Health and Well-being

Listening to Your Body, Closing Chapters

The decision to remove implants is just as valid as the decision to get them. Whether for health reasons (associated symptoms), changes in your lifestyle, or simply because you wish to return to your natural self, you will find a safe and judgment-free space in my practice. My focus is not just on removing the implant, but on reconstructing the breast using your own tissues (pexy or fat transfer) so that the result is aesthetic and you feel comfortable with your new image.

What is the procedure like?

We listen to your reasons and evaluate the state of the implants and the capsule through previous exams. We determine if only the removal is necessary or if we will combine it with a lift (pexy) or a fat transfer using your own tissue.

In the operating room, we perform the removal of the implant. If the case requires it (due to health reasons or capsular contracture), we also remove the surrounding capsule (capsulectomy) to ensure total cleaning of the tissue.

Once the volume is removed, we reshape the remaining breast tissue. We often perform a pexy (lift) to adjust excess skin and restore a rounded, firm shape to the breast, preventing it from appearing “empty.”

We suture using aesthetic techniques and, if necessary, leave drains in place for a few days. We begin a process of accompaniment to help you adapt both physically and emotionally to your new change.

Recommendations for your Well-being

Before surgery:

High-resolution ultrasound or an MRI may be necessary to see the exact state of the implants and the capsule.

Understanding that there will be a change in both volume and shape.

Complete laboratory tests and suspension of anticoagulants or supplements 15 days prior.

After surgery:

It is very common to leave drains in during this procedure to prevent fluid accumulation (seromas); their care is simple and temporary (usually 3 to 5 days).

You must wear a post-surgical bra day and night during the first month to help the skin retract and adapt to the new volume.

Avoid arm strain and do not drive during the first 2 to 3 weeks.

The final shape of the breast takes a few months to settle as the skin retracts; we will accompany you throughout this entire adaptation process.
